whew

what a bunch of days. busy busy.

a few highlights

- buying a black iHome. all the more fun to clean my apartment.
- finding out the Eels do a cover of Pretty Ballerina (plus, impressing the record store owner that I know of the Left Banke).
- law.school.prom.
- the NLG international committee conference (i *loved* the Danish Cartoon presentation. I now feel more fully informed about my opinions - which are - that i think that free speech has its limits).

can i stop buying soundtracks?

i was kinda late. usually, by the end of January or whenever i get my student loan check, i dump at least $70 on cds.

yesterday, i finally caught up and purchased three cds but can i stop buying soundtracks? buy #1 (b/c I already owned the score by Air...or at least, I used to before my external hard drive crashed and I *refuse* to buy any cds that I can (potentially) re-access), buy #2 (my love for French music), and buy #3. That's 66.6%

anyone have good recommendations as to how I can fill the rest of my "quota"?

and I *have* to go to the post office tonight to send out my second music monsters cd. (um, hello! i finished it like 2 weeks ago...). thankfully the usps extended their hours until 7 pm (yay, com pet ition!!)

a random song from my sorority days...

did i really listen to music like this?

"Suburban Life" by the Kottonmouth Kings.

i guess maybe the funky, happy (high) vibe was me then. plus, i was in a house with girls mostly from jew'd up detroit suburbs, cleveland suburbs, north jersey and new york. that's obviously gonna mean lots of popular hip-hop (read: black eyed peas (old stuff?), Dr. Dre, Snoop, Wyclef, Lauryn Hill, the Fugees...); modern hippie music (read: guster, dave matthews, phish, grateful dead, sublime); and all-around-bad (yet sometimes pleasing) soft pop music (read: barenaked ladies, pete yorn, yellowcard, david grey).

(have you noticed that lately I'm just airing out all of my embarrassing secrets?)

ick, i'm sick.

i've felt like i am going to throw up all day long. it sucks.

to revisit what I was talking about yesterday, i just wanted to note again that what society thinks is the best for you may not be what you think is the best for you.

i had so much work to make up this weekend from a hectic past two weeks (turning in my first brief to the commonwealth court, labor/employment law firm interviews, client counseling competition (only 1 round), and a copyright paper...) and so much work to get ahead on for a hectic week coming up (1L appellate draft briefs due, PLISF auction, barrister's ball, NLG int'l weekend & my virtual boss seeing me in the flesh for the 2nd time in the 1.5 years that I've worked for him...) but guess what i did instead?

- i did six loads of laundry (i know, impressive...but I was almost at the point of wearing my underwear inside-out so its "clean")
- i watched 14 episodes of Veronica Mars. (yes, a little less than 14 hours straight of Veronica Mars).

I hadn't seen more than the first 10 minutes of the first episode of season 2 (c'mon, I had to know who knocked on the door!!!). maybe 'cause i have not had much quality time with my ipod. maybe b/c i promised i'd watch them with my special gentleman friend. but, after this weekend, i'm all caught up. too bad that the season doesn't resume until March 15 (wtf?!?!)

i have so many theories (i won't post them here. i'll save them for VM message boards and forums; wait, did i just say that outloud? of course, i'm not that nerdy!). plus, i think that one episode was based on a short story that I read for persuasive narrative a.k.a. creative writing for lawyers. (if it was, VM did a pretty good job at making it relevant...). In this season, there were references to Nabokov, Steve McQueen, Rocky Horror, Colin Firth and more. but no worries, i'm not the only crazy fan

in the near future, i'll have to catch up with season three of the O.C.

Which reminds me of something that happened at one of my interviews...as some of you will know, i've recently been playing a lot of Animal Crossing in my spare time and reading Love Hina (yes, that borders category in case you didn't visit the site was Popular Fiction > Graphic Novels > MANGA. So, when I was at an interview a week or so ago...they asked me what I did in my spare time. and the *only* thing that was going through my mind is DO NOT SAY, I PLAY LOTS OF VIDEO GAMES. of course, in my spare time, i've taken up 3 part time jobs, i've helped plan the NLG Int'l Conference/Human Rights week, I started a theater workshop my first year of law school...all of these amazing things. But none of these things come to mind. the only thing i can think about is DO NOT SAY, I PLAY LOTS OF VIDEO GAMES. so, of course, what comes out of my mouth? I read comic books. WTF?!?!?

I wanted to hide in a corner. I guess that is what career services may call - make sure an employer likes you for *you* and that you are a good fit at the job.
...not Pitt law's career services, but some ideal version of career services.

currently playing: "Everyday is like Sunday" - Morrissey
ps/ i decided to play around with the keyboard shortcuts for this post!! (obviously...) fun!
