More City Politics

this time from my ex-job on the other side of the state

advice

i am hardly one to give advice especially at such a transient stage in my life...but! This came up when I was talking with my friend Bryan on the way back to Pittsburgh from the New Jersey bar. I told him that when I move to Philadelphia, I really need to read up on Philadelphia politics. I think it's so important now to know about the inner-workings of the city. (Maybe it's cliche. Who knows?)

yes, so my advice: when you move to a new city & start to work, research city politics!

after working for the city of pgh last year, i noticed just how many people would reference city politics ("regular people in everyday conversation"). maybe I was just becoming a "grown-up" or maybe it was because city councilmen & their actions were suddenly "clients" so, finally, i recognized their names. seriously, though, i feel like city politics always comes up in conversation (...at least in passing...) (...or, at least around attorneys, right?...)

anyway, for those in philadelphia, this page is really helpful. now i know all the insider stuff & can make my way around center city! (if only regional rail would stop breaking down every night...it's really making me re-think my decision to stay some place outside the city when i move...)
