Harry Potter

The new Harry Potter covers are out. For all who haven't seen them, here are some links:

Harry Potter UK Adult Cover

Harry Potter UK Child Cover

my question is - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - could that mean that the prince is not an actual half-blood but is only the prince among them (half-blooded prince v. half-blood prince...adjective v. noun...make sense?) or is this a cultural language barrier (b/c J.K. always references "half-bloods")?

yes, i'm a crazy fan. but at least I'm not like my significant other who frequents MuggleNet each day.

Club Cafe

is one of the best venues around. the design, the bathroom, the bouncers, the crowd...a small stage with an intimate setting.

and, best of all, we were able to meet Archer Prewitt and he shook doug's hand (Archer was the initiator!!). I told him my friend loves his comic (Erik) which he thought to mean Doug who was standing right next to me.

I love Archer Prewitt's mouth. No, literally. It has nice structure. And, a nice voice comes out. Oh, and his pics do him no justice. sure, he might be balding but he is really cute in person.

Clem Snide - they all wear white suits with converse sneakers. They sound like a more folksy Flaming Lips (but this is from someone who could never write music reviews - my ears aren't connected to my brain like that).

Lists

Since I am tired but feel like a posting is necessary. Another rendition of things I like this week:

1. Hanging out with "in-school" friends that I want to know better: My spring break started with a wonderful trip to D.C. with Angela from French class. I found another amazing law student that I genuinely like. Funny enough, she the super bubbly black chick about whom I made the (silent) mental note that: "I want to be friends w/ people like her in law school!". Tomorrow, I am hanging out with Cass - we are going to see Bad Education together and she is going to give me tips on how to be an organized fiction writer.
2. Doing things and then finding out they are trends: the fact that Mike W. and Jeff S. might be going to Pitt Law!! 'nuff said.
3. The L Word: Season 2 just started and season 1 is out on video and, in fact, most of season 1 is available on on-demand. Basically, if you have Showtime (or access to Showtime) you have no excuse. I am in love with Shane and I think that Alice is the most ideal friend ever. Insight to my insecurities: I worry that I am like Jenny but Doug tells me I'm not. Gosh, can TV rot my brain more? The next thing I know i will be addicted to E's theatrical rendition of the Michael Jackson Trial.
4. Pop culture lists: In my world, being pretentious equals a main course of knowledge about useless pop culture references with the deliscious topping of obscure knowledge for dessert. Thus, I love McSweeney's lists, VH1's Best Week Ever and my newest favorite: USA Today's Hip Clicks. Yes, monkey-see, monkey-do. I am a self-proclaimed protege.

Runner's Up:
1. The Rachel's in Pittsburgh - if only we didn't show up to locked doors and a closed venue at 11:40 (the show that started at 8 pm).
2. The Senate Buildings - for the underground tunnel connecting the 2 senate buildings and the US capitol building, for the pristine bathrooms, for numerous security checkpoints
3. the OAS hearing/Building - where all the parking lot spots are labeled not for "employee of the month" or "Director" but for Diplomat los estados unidos, diplomat El Salvador, diplomat Grenada, etc. And b/c the huge atrium/jungle in the lobby under the windowed ceiling gives me no reason to go to a tropical island for spring break. And the immediate translation machines, of course.
4. america's next top model (last season) - don't even get me started.
5. puff daddy - b/c i used to think he was all about the benjamins but i realize he has lots of class. (re: making of the band last season & my 3rd viewing of the Biggie/Tupac story).

Things to look forward to Next week:
1. The O.C. - which will air 5 of Beck's songs from his new album and the Star Wars III trailer
2. Archer Prewitt, clem snide in Pittsburgh (monday night after D&B)
3. Dave & Busters
4. The Wrens - they are buying me a drink!!! - any suggestions as to what I should order? Also, is it completely nerdy to wear a Wrens shirt to their show?
5. Wait, this is spring break!!!
